Be Prepared......no, really.

In honor of our nation's future president....

[Scar:] I know that your powers of retention
Are as wet as a warthog's backside
But thick as you are, pay attention
My words are a matter of pride

It's clear from your vacant expressions
The lights are not all on upstairs
But we're talking kings and successions
Even you can't be caught unawares

So prepare for a chance of a lifetime
Be prepared for sensational news
A shining new era
Is tiptoeing nearer

[Shenzi:] And where do we feature?

[Scar:] Just listen to teacher
I know it sounds sordid
But you'll be rewarded
When at last I am given my dues!
And injustice deliciously squared
Be prepared!

[Hyena:?] Be prepared for what?
[Scar:] For the death of the king!
[Hyena:?] Why? Is he sick?
[Scar:] No, you fool, we're going to kill him... and Simba too!
[Hyena:?] Great idea! Who needs a king?
[Hyenas:] No king, No king, nah nah nah nah nah nah!
[Scar:] Idiots! There will BE a king!
[Hyena:?] But you just said...
[Scar:] *I* will be king!
Stick with me, and you'll never be hungry again!
[Hyenas:] YEA!!!!!! Long live the king!

It's great that we'll soon be connected
With a king who'll be all-time adored

[Scar:] Of course, quid pro quo, you're expected
To take certain duties on board
The future is littered with prizes
And though I'm the main addressee
The point that I must emphasize is
You won't get a sniff without me

So prepare for the coup of the century
Be prepared for the murkiest scam
(Ooooh!)
Meticulous planning
(We'll have food!)
Tenacity spanning
(Lots of food)
Decades of denial
(We repeat)
Is simply why I'll
(Endless meat)
Be king undisputed
(Aaaaaaaaaah!)
respected, saluted
(Aaaaaaaaaah!)
And seen for the wonder I am
(Aaaaaaaaaah!)

Yes my teeth and ambitions are bared
Be prepared!

[Hyenas:] Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared
Be prepared!

Oh, now that's just negative...

If you haven't recently, please read 1 Timothy 2:1-4, and Romans 13:1-7.

I can't wait for his inauguration, people just need to give him a chance, thats why we (well not me) can vote the person out if it doesn't work.

I don't agree with all of Obama's views on certain things, but we still need to pray for him. We should pray that God would change his heart!

I acknowledge that we are supposed to submit to our authorities. However, if those same authorities want me to compromise what I believe in, they have gone too far. I am not saying that this is what Obama will do, but I doubt he will do much good. And yes, I am praying for him.

At the same time, though, America is getting worse all on its own. Obama will definitely help it along, but it won't be all his fault. I just don't see why people are so blind sighted into thinking he is next to God...he is no better than any other politician, though he may end up being worse.

Chris said...

Nobody is saying he is next to God, they are probably saying he is the next best thing since slice bread, haha.

Jessica said...

Actually, some are saying he IS God...

Chris said...

And you take that seriously? People will always say that people are god. Have you ever seen that famous picture of the Eric Clapton is God graffiti in a London subway?

Lizzie said...

Well, Chris, for Christians it's particularly significant for Obama to be proclaimed the Messiah. That, and a few other circumstances of his life make him a good candidate for the anti-Christ. It's not the same as just anyone being called God.

Chris said...

*Sigh* Am I the only one not taking this seriously?

Jessica said...

I think that everyone is taking this seriously from his or her own perspective. And mine is: Obama is a man, thus human, and he will do things like a human. He is not going to solve all our problems, especially since that is not what politicians and the government does, contrary to popular belief. I also have a bad feeling about him. But then again I have a bad feeling about where the US and the whole world is going anyways. I don't believe he is the Messiah and I don't believe he is the antiChrist. But he's not good. Call me loony, I don't care. I may be wrong and I pray that I am.

Ah, very appropriate, Jessica! I like it.

Bear in mind, people; Barack Obama is God's servant. Romans 13:1-7. It says three times: rulers are God's servants. Whenever something's mentioned in the Bible three times, you better perk up and listen, 'cause it's really, really important.

Chris said...

"And mine is: Obama is a man, thus human, and he will do things like a human."

You know that's probably what the Jews said about Jesus. Hence why I am not taking it seriously.

Jessica said...

The Jews were wrong.

Jonathan David Page said...

Clarification, please, Chris: what do you mean by not taking this seriously? (Specifically, what is the antecedent to "this"?)

Chris said...

This- as in the Obama messiah thing. That's what most of the discussion is about.

The Jews were wrong? I hope that was a joke.

Obama is the wake-up call America needs. For 8 years, we have suffered because the presidency (that includes the cabinet too) did nothing to help this country out. It just made it worse for everyone except for the top 1% wealthiest. That 1% better watch its back. The other 99% is sick and tired of crap in washington. I put my faith in Obama and hopefully, in the people. We need to work on what matters the most (education, the environment, the economy, foreign policy, jobs, health care...etc.) instead of what matters the least (abortion issues, background and religion of president, patriotism).

Obama isn't god. CLAPTON IS GOD!

Putting your faith in obama? Prepare to remain in the bottom 99 percentile, my friend. The deluded fools.

"I want to be realistic here, not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped...”

- Barack Obama, BEFORE he was even inaugurated...

Chris said...

Well of course he won't be able to do eveything. Remember George H.W. Bush's "Read my lips" statement before he was elected president?

A president can only do as much as Congress and the Supreme Court will let them. People seem to fail to look at that.

Lizzie said...

Well, lucky for Obama he's got a Supreme Court and Congress that will probably lean to his side. >.<

@ Chris, I certainly don't condone GWB Sr.'s actions whatsoever.

Chris said...

T.M.- I'm not saying that you condone it or not, just saying that they all say that they will do this or that and not even half of what they say will be done.

Lizzie- It would have been the same if the majority of both houses were Republican and McCain was elected president. It's happened plenty of times before on both sides.

Jessica said...

All presidents are going to promise wonderful things in their campaigns. That is why people vote for them, because they expect said presidential candidate to clean up the mess that the last one made. They voted the last one in because they thought he would clean up the last mess, and so on. And the thing is that the next president may actually clean up the last one's mess......but then goes and makes one of his own. That is just the way it works.

If Obama is solving all of our problems he is going to make a lot more. In order to have things like health care and more jobs he is either going to have to raise taxes higher than they have ever been or inflate the currency so much that our economy gets WAY more out of hand than it already is. The US government is over a trillion dollars in debt. They are never going to be able to pay that off. They are trying, though, through many sneaky ways.

Americans are blinded by the government's promises. He says he will give them what they want and they say, "okay!" and believe him. But he is only going to lead them into more problems. And yes, this problem extends way further than just my issue with Obama being president.

Anonymous said...

Right. What I was saying is that it's ridiculous for Obama to start going back on his promises before he's even president.

Allie said...

I'm not an Obama Supporter. I don't like him, nor will I. But I believe that God has a plan for everything. INCLUDING putting Obama in office. Does this mean I like it? No. But will I pray for him to have Godly wisdom? Yes. Do I think that he might have a chance in doing something? Maybe. Good has come out of evil times in the past. "For all things work together for good to those who love God, and are called according to His purpose."

Jessica said...

Good point Allie....one I need to remember more than I do. :)

Andrew D.Z. said...

God didn't vote Obama into office. We the people did.

Andrew D.Z. said...

Can't you have faith in another human being? I know he won't keep every promise. But I have a feeling he'll be in the top percentage of presidents.

Jessica said...

"I know he won't keep every promise."

Why did he make them, then? In my book, a promise is a promise, no exceptions. Plus it is even worse if you promise an entire nation something and go back on it. You let 300 million people down.

Chris said...

Like I said before, every president makes promises that are never fulfilled. People just seem to believe that because he says he will do this and that, that it will happen. WRONG. In order for him to do anything, unless what he wants only requires an Executive Order (such as closing Gitmo), he has to have everything approved my Congress. When you have a president of one party and a congress majority of another party, many promises are broken.

Jessica said...

So like I said, he should never make those promises in the first place. What kind of example does that set? I am not going to respect anybody who lies and goes back on promises. It's fine if he says, "I will attempt X" or "I will do my best to make sure that X happens." If a president can throw promises around lightly then.....I don't know what to say. He is certainly not a respectable person.

Chris said...

Ok, so basically you have no respect for every single President of the United States.

Andrew D.Z. said...

The sad truth is that you need to play politics to win over undecided voters. Obama has been in office for 3 days. It will take awhile for any promises to go broken. He has 4 years, not 3 days as president. Everybody needs to give him time.

Andrew D.Z. said...

"I know he won't keep every promise."

I would like to retract this statement because I don't know. He might keep his promises. He might not. I don't know.

Jessica said...

"Ok, so basically you have no respect for every single President of the United States."

Yup, that is basically what it comes down to. :)

I will give Obama time. Unwillingly as it is, I will. But he is not some savior. He's just the next president.
